First Union Meeting
For Carpenters local 1070

Carpenters Local 1070 held
its first union meeting in Charleston at Carpenters Local
1207's meeting hall on Tennessee Avenue on November 18th,
2006. Officers were sworn in by West Virginia District
Director Mark Estlack (standing at right). From the left
are: President Phillip Samples, Trustee Allen Fisher, and
Financial Secretary/ Treasurer, Council Delegate and Service
Representative Paul Shaffer. There were 13 working members
in attendance at the |

meeting.
There were many issues of importance discussed with most of
the questions asked by Leroy Brothers. The members decided
to hold the next meeting in Flatwoods, West Virginia to
shorten the drive time for members that live in the
Bridgeport and Morgantown areas. All in all, it was a
productive meeting with the members taking an active role in
founding the local. All of the members in attendance are
employees of R.C. General Construction of Charleston, |

gain a higher attendance as time progresses, with strong
participation by the members becoming a hallmark of
Carpenters local 1070. |
