About Carpenters Local 1070 Carpenters Residential Local 1070 is dedicated to organizing unrepresented Carpenters throughout West Virginia. It is our firm and unwavering belief that collective bargaining is the best way for Carpenters to raise our standard of living, improve our working conditions and safety standards on the job, maintain our dignity and protect our interests. We will strive to build our membership and thereby obtain better wages and benefits for all craftsmen working in the trade. Toward these ends we offer our full support to all Carpenters working in the residential industry wishing to exercise their legal right to join a union and bargain collectively with their respective employers for wages and benefits. We also recognize that highly skilled craftsmen are of far greater value than lower skilled workers, so we support and encourage training for our members. As we are part of an international organization, we are able to provide the training necessary to elevate the skills of our membership so that they may be valuable employees to our signatory contractors. With training available through our Apprenticeship program and our Journeyman Skill Upgrade classes, our organization can provide the highly skilled Carpenters that the construction industry demands. The history of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America clearly demonstrates that this is true, and Local 1070 will carry on the tradition of insuring that our members will consistently perform competently and efficiently. In addition, we make available the latest safety, hazard awareness, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training for our members so that they will return home from their jobs uninjured each day. We also support a drug-free workplace to further enhance the safety on the jobsite. The resultant savings in lost time injuries enhances the value of our members, and the profitability of our employers. |
